
A condo dining area in Costa Mesa that felt cramped and apologetic. The clients, a couple in their first owned home, loved hosting but kept defaulting to takeout on the couch because the dining table felt like an afterthought.
Weekend Refresh started with a 90-minute in-person consult to walk the space together. Two rounds of moodboard revisions landed on a palette of warm cream, brushed brass, and a single statement pendant. The detailed layout plan added a slim console behind the banquette for serving, swapped the four mismatched chairs for two upholstered ends and a long bench, and added an oversized rug to anchor the whole zone.
The family now hosts Friday dinner for friends every other week. The dining area went from “that awkward corner” to the room they’re proudest of.
